Presenters and Panelists
Entrepreneur. Dreamer. Scientist. Kevin has spent 20 years on the front lines of energy innovation in numerous executive leadership roles in the industry. Starting his career in the energy industry as a roughneck on the oil rigs of Northern Alberta, he grew through the ranks until he was chief executive of Canada’s oldest drilling company.
Kevin’s accomplishments speak for themselves, championing some of the first fully computerized drilling rigs in the world to leading the first long-reach horizontal well project in the Canadian arctic. He currently leads a major corporation during a period of disruption within the Canadian energy industry.
Kevin serves on the steering committees of both the Clean Resource Innovation Network (CRIN) and the Energy Futures Lab (EFL).
Andy J. Mah
Andy Mah has immense leadership experience within the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Advantage, he served as president and chief operating officer of Ketch Resources Trust. He also served as executive officer and vice president, Engineering and Operations of Northrock Resources Ltd., which became a wholly owned subsidiary of Unocal in 2002. Andy has also held managerial and technical positions with Sceptre Resources Ltd., and BP Canada.
Andy has significant experience in the WCSB in all facets of the upstream oil and gas industry and worked on U.S. and international projects during his time with Unocal and BP Canada. Andy is a member of APEGA and the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and has served on the board of governors of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) in addition to other oil and gas boards and advocacy/volunteer events.
David Hood is CEO of geoLOGIC systems ltd. David joined the company in 1997 and brought in new private equity partners in 2015. Prior to joining geoLOGIC, David was CEO of GEOTECH and owned Wyvern Consulting which provided technical and managerial consulting services to technology companies operating in Canada, Europe and the Middle East.
He holds a BSc (Hons) Mech. Eng. and an MBA from Glasgow University, is a member of various Canadian, U.S, and international technical societies and currently sits on the Board of PPDM. David and his wife Andrea were chairs of the 68th conference of the Canadian Energy Executive Association (CEEA) (formerly the Oilmen’s).
David participates in many charitable and community events through the activities of the company and other voluntary associations.
Bill Whitelaw (Moderator)
Bill Whitelaw is Managing Director, Strategy and Sustainability, for geoLOGIC systems ltd. Bill was previously CEO of JWN Energy for 18 years prior to its acquisition by geoLOGIC in March. Bill sits on a variety of industry boards, including the Canadian Society for Unconventional Resources, of which he is also nominations chair, and the Energy Futures Lab’s steering committee.
Bill speaks frequently on industry innovations matters, as well as ESG and sustainability.
