Demand for lithium-ion batteries surges as the world races towards enabling clean mobility and energy storage.

The Battery Metals Association of Canada (BMAC) wants to ensure Canada builds out its battery metal supply chain to take advantage of the economic opportunities this energy revolution presents.

This BMAC report, entitled Maximizing Canada’s Battery Metals Sector, looks at how Canada can build a thriving mines to mobility supply chain.

Based on a virtual workshop that brought together leaders from all segments of the supply chain, this report examines current and potential markets in mining, chemical production, battery components, battery cell manufacturing, end-use applications, and recycling. It also presents key barriers to growing each segment of the supply chain, along with potential solution pathways to overcome these barriers.

It then reviews the geopolitical, policy, and regulatory challenges to building out the supply chain, and provides a potential path forward to grow the battery metals sector.
